This Dishcloth is an elegant knit that is super simple to make. That’s right, it’s perfect for beginners! It is worked in an alternating pattern of purls and knits to create a woven basket weave effect that looks great on both sides, both front and back. A garter stitch border with a slip stitch edge, gives this dishcloth a tidy finish and polished look. This project is 8.25″ x 8.25″ but easily adapts to different sizes if a towel is more your style.
Made from 1 skein of Joshua II. Our new rambouillet/Columbia wool blended with domestic hemp. This yarn is special. We have not made a lot of hemp blends and the two-dimensional way the yarn takes the dye, makes it look like a heather and adds a nice visual and textural enhancement. Joshua II is a 3 ply DK that is a blend of 80% Rambouillet wool and 20% hemp. Part of the fun in blending a protein fiber with a cellulose fiber is dyeing the yarn. Protein and cellulose fibers take dyes at different heats, so you always end up with some dimension to the dye and also what appears to be heathering.
We have paired hemp with other fibers through the years, cotton, alpaca, merino; this is the first time we have paired merino wool and hemp. The wool allows this yarn to breath and the hemp gives the yarn a fun texture. When you knit with this yarn you get a wonderful stitch definition, which makes Joshua II a great cable knitting yarn.

Beginning knitters, do not be intimidated by the project. It is EASY and you CAN do it!!! The poncho is knit in one piece with no seams. The stitches are a combination of stockinette and seed stitch. I have learned that I can knit just about anything now with the help of a few friends and my very best friend YouTube. Scott Rohr designed this classic poncho with ease of wear in mind.
